Bayside (Newport Beach) Another great place for a salad, and a very relaxing moment, overlooking the water, the boats…Ah, this place is really nice if you take the time to enjoy it - April 2005

Bluewater Grill In Newport Beach, Orange County. An excellent place to start the day, either with a salad or eggs, and some may add a Mimosa! - March 2005

Delve’s Sushi Bar Be ready for night full of entertainment by the waiters and the cooks. It’s loud but it’s fun and doesn’t come at the expense of good sushis. These are great too - December 2003

El Coyote Cafe A tradition when going to L.A. Don’t go for the decor, just for easy comfort Tex-Mex food and their very good margaritas - December 2006

EM Bistro (+1 323 658 6004)

Joe’s

Minibar A lot about the decor and being seen but the food was very good. Expect tapas size and a trendy ambiance - December 2002

Mozza: Excellent pizzas of course - born from the talents of a chef and a baker. Their signature starter is the insalatta mista and their butterscotch ice-cream tops the list for desserts but I really enjoyed their afogatto. An absolute must overall - February 2010

Nagao Probably the best quality to price ratio you could imagine, especially in LA. Classic sushis, maki with no rice and no seaweed, cooked halibut, there is food for every taste. I am glad I found this little place. And don’t miss the Pain Quotidien next door and their bombe chocolate dessert. It’s so much better than a green tea scoop! - October 2007

Reel Inn Restaurant (Fish) (+1 310 456 8221) A traditional stop when in LA. Stop by the New Getty villa and indulge at the Reel Inn by picking your own fish, the way you want it cooked and with which side order. Simple, straight, not fancy and very good. How it should be. - December 2006

Sage

Shaherzad (+1 310 470 3242) Could Shaherzad have come from excellent to really mediocre? Maybe, but I am leaving it there for you to check out and discover other addresses next to this restaurant. All Persian places are lined up on Westwood boulevard - November 2006

Sushi Masu: very, very good sushis and very hard to beat such a quality/price ratio. Ask for fish that is not on the menu or on the board - amberjack, butterfish, etc. On Westwood boulevard, 1 block off Santa Monica boulevard - February 2010
